Though the producer of Marco, Shereef Mohammed, had announced that the scenes of the film that didn’t make final theatrical cut including the ones featuring actor Riyaz Khan would be included in its extended OTT version , fans were disappointed when they found out that these were missing when the movie dropped on Sony LIV on February 13.
After fans made their disappointment known on social media, the makers have now released an action sequence featuring Riyaz, as a police officer, from the movie.
Riyaz Khan, who was most recently seen in Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan’s Painkili, had revealed that he had shot sequences in Marco that had Unni Mukundan’s titular character in another avatar.
True to his words, the deleted scene which was released on YouTube by the makers showed Marco’s earlier days – before he had gone on exile – and featured a sequence where he and his girfriend, played by Yukti Thareja barge into a police station and take on the cops there after they refuse to support her case of being sexually harassed.
Sharing the link of the video, Unni wrote that the makers have kept their promise and released it on YouTube as it’s “a fight scene with no excessive violence”. “We always stand by our commitments and ensure that we deliver on our word. However, we cannot take responsibility for other circulating information that falls beyond our control, as we remain committed to adhering to prevailing rules and regulations,” he said, explaining why certain sequences including the dismemberment of the villain in the climax and more were not included in the OTT version as was initially rumoured.
The Haneef Adeni directorial, which grossed over Rs 115 Cr worldwide, is currently streaming on Sony LIV and is available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The Hindi version of the film is yet to begin streaming on an OTT platform, despite it releasing along with the Malayalam film in theatres on December 20.
