Ustaad Bhagat Singh: Pawan Kalyan plays a cop in this film written and directed by Harish Shankar, which also stars Sreeleela, Raashi Khanna, Parthiban and others

Ustaad Bhagat Singh, the 2026 Telugu action drama starring actor-politician Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, had debuted in theatres on Thursday ahead of Eid celebrations and on Ugadi. The film, which was the only prominent Telugu release this weekend, has made Rs 30 crore on its first day.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh is the latest Telugu film which released this week. The Pawan Kalyan starrer is written and directed by filmmaker Harish Shankar. Featuring the star as a fierce and straight-forward cop, Ustaad Bhagat Singh has managed to make Rs 31.5 crore on day one at the box office, as per Sacnilk. While the makers did not go ahead with premieres a day before, Ustaad Bhagat Singh failed to beat the day one box office collection of Pawan Kalyan’s previous film They Call Him OG. The latter had made about Rs 84 crore with the premieres and release day combined.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh is about the titular cop, who is brought up with the values of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, as he is taken into the wings of a headmaster and made to study. Growing up to be a fierce and straight-forward cop, Ustaad Bhagat Singh must confront a corrupt politician and rowdy Nalla Nagappa to take down him and reinstate truth in the state.
The film is helmed by Harish Shankar and was first announced in 2021. While Ustaad Bhagat Singh opened to negative reviews, the film is expected to run over the weekend in the Telugu states, given Eid and Ugadi holidays are observed. Apart from Pawan Kalyan, the film also features Sreeleela, Raashi Khanna, Parthiban, Rao Ramesh, KS Ravikumar and others in supporting roles. The post-theatrical streaming rights of Ustaad Bhagat Singh is bagged by Netflix and is expected to premiere the film in multiple languages soon.
