Vetrimaaran directorial Vaadi Vaasal is one of the most-awaited collaborations between Suriya and the director. The movie shooting will commence after Vetimaaran's Viduthalai Part 2. Ameer Sultan, who will be sharing screen space with Suriya in the film, opened up recently about his equation with the Jai Bhim star and about his role in the Vetrimaaran directorial.
Don’t want to disappoint fans, says Ameer
Ameer in a recent interview revealed that he is really looking forward to working as a co-star in Suriya’s film and mentioned that the pressure is on him to work with the Tamil star who is much more experienced in the field of acting. “I have always been fond of Suriya’s performances. He has always been a friend and brother to me. Hence, I am curious as to how I would be able to match his level of acting, because he is senior to me in terms of acting. So, the pressure is on me to prove my skills. I don’t want to disappoint the fans for casting me alongside Suriya in a Vetrimaaran film,” the actor-director revealed.
He also added that despite several allegations on the KE Gnanavel Raja controversy surrounding Karthi’s Paruthiveeran, he and Suriya have maintained a respectful rapport whenever they meet. “Despite so many controversies that happened in the recent past, Suriya has always been very kind and respectful in public. Even at the recent Kalaignar event, (Kalaignar Karunanidhi’s 100th birth anniversary) we shook hands and shared a friendly equation”, he elaborated.
Ameer-KE Gnanavel rift
For the unversed, Ameer, who directed Paruthiveeran, first alleged that producer KE Gnanavel was unable to finance the movie until its completion. Eventually, Ameer had to take over. But as the project neared completion, Ameer faced financial difficulties, resulting in the film reverting to Gnanavel. Since the movie’s release, director Ameer and the producer have been accusing each other of payment issues. Even sixteen years after the film’s release, Ameer and Gnanavel have not been able to reach an agreement concerning the ownership of the Karthi-starrer. This controversy led to several celebrities from the industry taking sides, while Suriya and Karthi maintained silence.
