Dhanush's Vaathi, which was released in theatres on February 17, opened to decent reviews and has been garnering support from audiences as well. The movie helmed by Venky Atluri was released in Telugu, too, on the same day under the title Sir.
The film, starring Samyuktha as the female lead, earned more or less the same figures from Kollywood and Tollywood box office on day one. Samuthirakani, Tanikella Bharani, Saikumar, Sumanth, Ken Karunas, Shah Ra, Aadukalam Naren and Hyper Aadi play notable roles in the movie which has music composed by GV Prakash.
Dhanush's effortless acting as a teacher, soul-stirring background score and performances by a few other actors received positive response from cinephiles, though its screenplay was termed predictable. J Yuvaraj's visuals and Naveen Nooli's editing , too, garnered appreciation.
Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas have jointly bankrolled the movie which was initially supposed to be released in December. The makers postponed their plans owing to delay in post production works.
They have been updating the movie's collection regularly. According to their latest social media post, Vaathi has grossed 75 crores from across the globe. Fans of Dhanush and other movie buffs are eagerly looking forward to know if the film could end up as the star's highest grosser after entering the 100 crore club.
Mithran Jawahar's Thiruchitrambalam, which released last year, is the actor's biggest hit. He is now gearing up for his second directorial project even as he is busy with the shooting of Captain Miller, which is touted to be the biggest film of his career.
