Dhanush, who had four releases last year, is gearing up for the release of Vaathi which will hit the screens under the title Sir in Telugu. The Venky Atluri directorial, which has been bankrolled by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, has Samyuktha playing the female lead in it.

The bilingual film stars Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Ilavarasu and Aadukalam Naren among others essaying pivotal characters. The project revolves around an earnest teacher who takes on an evil entrepreneur who believes in commercializing education for his own benefit.

GV Prakash's music is expected to be one of the highlights of the movie which has cinematography by J Yuvraj and editing by Naveen Nooli. Venkat has choreographed action sequences for the film which will have a simultaneous release in Tollywood as well.

The songs from Vaathi have already been topping the charts and fans of Dhanush are eager to watch their favourite star on the big screen after a few months' hiatus. The film was earlier supposed to hit the screens in December, but they postponed their plans owing to reasons best known to them.

Vaathi will be released in theatres on February 17. Seven Screen Studio, which recently presented Vijay-starrer Varisu, has bagged the theatrical rights of the Dhanush-starrer in Tamil Nadu. The production house is currently busy with the shooting of Vijay-starrer Leo in Kashmir.

The makers of the project unveiled a new poster today, featuring Dhanush and Samyuktha, on the occasion of Valentine's Day. Fans are curious to know whether the team would release promo videos in the coming days.
