Dhanush's latest film Vaathi, which was released on February 17, was low on promotions a few weeks before it hit the screens. However, its pre-release events which were held in Chennai and Hyderabad garnered a lot of attention from film lovers. The bilingual project, which was released in Telugu as Sir, opened to good numbers at the box office on day one.

The Venky Atluri directorial grossed 75 crores from across the world a week ago and the movie received praise from critics for handling a pertinent issue with sensitivity. The film touched upon the importance of children's education and Dhanush's performance was lauded by one and all.

GV Prakash's music is another aspect which impressed the audience while Samuthirakani, Saikumar and Tanikella Bharani essayed key roles. Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja had heaped praise on the movie recently; he came up with a short video in which he briefed on the elements which appealed to him.

Another leading celebrity has now appreciated Vaathi and Sithara Entertainments, which bankrolled the project, has expressed excitement on the same. Tollywood star Nandamuri Balakrishna watched the film recently and he expressed his liking for the movie.

Producer Naga Vamsi, director Venky and the star posed for a photo together and the picture has been posted by makers on social media. Interestingly, Dhanush had confessed during the pre-release event of Sir that he is a huge fan of Balakrishna's blockbuster outing Akhanda.

Fans of Dhanush are now awaiting an update on the latest collection of Vaathi. An announcement on the film's digital release, too, is likely to happen soon.
