Vadakkan streaming on Amazon Prime Video
Vadakkan, which is claimed to be the first paranormal film in Malayalam, can now be watched on Amazon Prime Video. Though it failed to create an impressive number in theatre, the film's digital release is expected to garner the appreciation it deserves for its technical aspects as well as intriguing narrative. The movie had garnered praise at several international film festivals for its technical aspects. The supernatural thriller had a theatrical release on March 7.
Dileesh Pothan's Am Ah, Vijayaraghavan's Ouseppinte Osiyathu and Suraj Venjaramoodu's Extra Decent are among the latest Malayalam films to stream on Amazon Prime Video recently.
All about Vadakkan
The plot of Vadakkan centres on Ram, a paranormal investigator who upon a call from his former lover Megha decides to return to Kerala. Megha's husband and the crew members of his reality show were brutally killed while filming in a dense forest. Ram starts an investigation on this but it quickly delves into complexities. He discovers remnants of ancient secrets and magical forces in his quest. A group of youngsters also ventures into the forest and their group members start to disappear one by one. The main focus of the film is what transpires next. The film was praised for its depiction of Theyyam and North Kerala's folklore in a distinctive manner.
Shruthy Menon, Merin Philip, and Gargi Ananthan also play prominent roles in Vadakkan, which is helmed by A Sajeed. Renowned author Unni R, who is known for his works Munnariyippu and Charlie, has p enned the horror thriller. The director of photography is Keiko Nakahara, and the sound design is also done by Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty. Bijibal composed the music and background score for the movie.
