Director H Vinoth's Valimai, starring Ajith, finally had a theatrical release on February 24, after keeping fans of the star waiting for more than two years. The movie has been produced by Boney Kapoor's Bay View Projects and Zee Studios. The film brought back Ajith, Vinoth and Boney for the second time after Nerkonda Paarvai (streaming on Zee5).
The project, which had Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya, Achyuth Kumar, Sumithra, Raj Ayyappa and Pugazh essaying notable roles in it, went on to become one of the highest grossers in Ajith's career. The movie had released in record number of screens in Tamil Nadu, and registered the highest opening for a Tamil film on the first day after the second wave of the pandemic.
As expected, the action flick is now ready for its OTT premiere on Zee5. The platform has now announced that an update on its digital release will be made on March 20. According to a source, Valimai is likely to have its OTT premiere on March 25, exactly a month after its release in theatres.
The movie, which was initially supposed to have a release on January 13, got postponed owing to the outbreak of the third wave of the pandemic.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed songs for the film while Ghibran has worked on the movie's background score. Vijay Velukutty had edited Valimai which had Nirav Shah handling cinematography. The project had gone on floors in 2019 after the release of Nerkonda Paarvai.
Interestingly, the actor-filmmaker-produce trio's next outing, AK 61, too, is said to have its OTT premiere on Zee5 as Zee Studios is involved in its production. The untitled film will go on floors later this month in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
