The teaser for Bala’s ambitious project Vanangaan, starring Arun Vijay, has finally dropped

The wait is over! The official teaser of director Bala’s upcoming film Vanangaan has finally dropped. The new teaser, starring Arun Vijay, showcases the actor playing a gritty role with no dialogue. The teaser starts off with shots from Kanyakumari’s Thiruvalluvar Statue, and then shows Arun Vijay’s character being handcuffed by cops. In the later shots, a woman (played by Roshni Prakash) is seen in several costumes, including Swami Vivekananda, and in another scene sporting a white saree, akin to that of a saint. In one of the shots, the actress is seen being punched by Arun Vijay's character. Actor Samuthirakani and Mysskin are also seen appearing in the teaser.
Arun Vijay is seen mercilessly hitting goons and people who come his way, and appears to be portraying a rogue character. The teaser features several fast-paced fight sequences and has Arun Vijay rising from a well, covered in mud. He is also seen holding a sculpture of Lord Ganesh in one hand and that of social reformer Periyar in the other. In the end, a distressed Arun Vijay is seen growling in a prison-like cell.
At first glance, the teaser has an uncanny resemblance to Bala's 2003 blockbuster film Pithamagan, starring Vikram and Suriya. Arun Vijay makes an impressive appearance in the new avatar and appears to have gotten into the skin of the character. Kannada actress Roshini Prakash, who is making her third appearance in Tamil after 2019 Jada, makes an intriguing screen presence. Overall, the teaser invokes a lot of questions about Arun Vijay’s character and his motive in the film; especially the scene where he carries Lord Ganesh and Periyar. Is he trying to make a statement about atheism and theism? Or is the director trying to portray some other narrative else? Nonetheless, the teaser looks promising, and we cannot wait for the plot to unravel!

More about Vanangaan
For the unversed, Vanangaan was first announced with actor Suriya in the lead role. However, due to creative differences, Suriya was replaced by Arun Vijay. “I didn't want to let down my younger brother (Suriya), who believes in me and respects me so much. So, after mutual discussion, we have both decided to let Suriya off the film,” Bala’s statement read.
Arun Vijay, Mysskin, Roshni Prakash and Samuthirakani play pivotal roles in the film. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music for the film, while Sathish Suriya has handled the editing. The film is produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions in association with Bala's B Studios.
