The teaser for Arun Vijay and director Bala’s film Vanangaan is all set to be released on February 19. The makers took to their social media handles to make the announcement, while also releasing a brand-new poster of Arun Vijay from the film. The poster features the side profile of the actor, who sports a thick beard. Besides Arun Vijay, the film also stars Roshni Prakash as the female lead.
An earlier poster for the movie had Arun Vijay slathered in mud. He is also seen holding a sculpture of Lord Ganesh in one hand and that of social reformer Periyar in the other. From these posters, the film appears to be based on religious ideologies. Nonetheless, more details about the film will be revealed when the teaser is dropped on February 19.
Arun Vijay replaced Suriya in Vanangaan
For the uninitiated, Vanangaan was first announced with actor Suriya in the lead role. However, director Bala later released an official statement stating that although he had wished to make a film titled Vanangaan with Suriya, he was sceptical if the story would suit the Jai Bhim star after some creative differences over the script. “I didn't want to let down my younger brother, who believes in me and respects me so much. So, after mutual discussion, we have both decided to let Suriya off the film,” Bala’s statement read.
Vanangaan’s new star cast
After Suriya’s ouster, Arun Vijay and Roshni Prakash were brought onboard. Samuthirakani is also part of the star cast. GV Prakash is charged with scoring the music for the film, while Sathish Suriya has handled the editing. The film is produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions in association with Bala's B Studios.
