Varalaxmi plays a lawyer again in her next outing, titled Arasi

Varalaxmi, who was last seen in the underwhelming film, Chasing, which released earlier this year, has half a dozen projects in her kitty. She has signed her next, titled Arasi, the shooting of which commenced in Chennai on Wednesday. The actress will be seen playing a lawyer again in the movie which is directed by Suriya Kiran. She essayed a lawyer's role in Tollywood courtroom drama Naandhi earlier which hit the screens before the onslaught of the second wave of COVID-19. 

Produced by ARK Rajaraja and Avadi S Varalakshmi under the banner of Rasi Media Makers and VV Films, Arasi has cinematography by Selva R and music by Siddharth Vipin. Karthik Raja, Siddharth Roy, Santhana Bharathi, Chaplin Balu, Anthony Dass and Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru Shiva among others will be seen in pivotal roles in the movie, the shooting of which has been planned at Kelambakkam and Vandalur.   

The long pending horror-comedy, Kaatteri directed by Deekay, Pamban, Piranthal Parasakthi, bilingual flick Colors and Hari's Arun Vijay-starrer Yaanai are her upcoming movies. The actress will also be making her directorial debut with Kannamoochi, the first look of which was revealed last year. An excited Varalaxmi had then taken to Twitter to express happiness on turning a filmmaker. 

She tweeted, "Finally stepping into this new avatar as a Director..thank you for amazing wishes n response..I will work hard to do my best n not let you dow..thank you all so much for the love..!! #overwhelmed #blessed (sic)." 

Produced by N Ramasamy under Thenandal Films, the women-centric thriller has music by Sam CS and cinematography by E Krishnasamy. Around 50 actresses from the industry, including the likes of Kajal Aggarwal, Taapsee, Radhika Sarathkumar, Trisha, Khushbu, Lakshmi Manchu, Andrea Jeremiah, and so on, had unveiled the project's first look and wished her success.
