Fans of Vijay, who are on a roll with makers of Leo delivering back-to-back updates on the film, have one more reason to rejoice. The star's first release of 2023, Varisu, which was released on January 11, has attained a prestigious status. The Vamshi Paidipally directorial, despite clashing with Thunivu at the box office, has entered ₹300 club.
The makers have officially announced the same and fans are overjoyed with the family drama joining the coveted club despite the movie opening to above average reviews. The box office performance of the film has once again proved the star power of the actor, opine his hardcore fans.
His screen presence, music by Thaman and a few emotional sequences were considered to be the highlights of the project which received criticism for its predictable screenplay. Varisu, which was dubbed as Vaarasudu in Telugu, earned decent money from Tollywood box office as well.
The film underperformed in Kerala and overseas markets, but entertained Tamil audience and surpassed expectations of trade pundits. The OTT premiere of the movie is expected to happen later this month. Veteran Tollywood producer Dil Raju made his Kollywood debut with the project which starred Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha in pivotal roles.
Karthik Palani and Praveen KL have handled cinematography and editing respectively for Varisu which was presented by Red Giant Movies and Seven Screen Studio in Tamil Nadu.
The film's release was preponed by a day after the makers had initially confirmed January 12 as the final date. However, Vaarasudu, the Telugu version, though planned as a simultaneous release, hit the screens only on January 14.
