Varun Dhawan confirms role as Priyanka Chopra's on-screen father in Citadel: Honey Bunny; details inside

In the fifth episode of Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, there was a brief appearance by Varun Dhawan. If you recall, Priyanka's character, Nadia Sinh, received a phone call from Rahi Gambhir, whose voice resembled Varun's. Later, it was known that the character was none other than her father. VD has now confirmed his role as PeeCee's onscreen father in the Citadel universe.

The actor shared his sharp-suited look from the Prime Video Presents event on his social media pages. In the caption, Varun wrote, "Rahi Gambhir, aka Bunny," confirming the speculations.

Citadel: Honey Bunny is the title of the Indian version of the espionage thriller. This means Samantha Ruth Prabhu's character is named Honey. However, we are yet to get confirmation if she will be playing Priyanka's onscreen mother in the series.

Expansion of the Citadel universe

Talking about Citadel: Honey Bunny, the compelling plot combines the thrilling aspects of a love story with the nail-biting tension of a hard-boiled spy thriller, all set against the colourful backdrop of the 1990s.  

Members of the ensemble cast include Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, Kashvi Majmundar, and Kay Kay Menon.

The Russo Brothers' AGBO, Amazon MGM Studios, and Raj & DK's D2R Films are producing the series. David Weil, executive producer of Citadel: Honey Bunny and other series inside the global Citadel universe, comes together with Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes from AGBO.

Citadel: Diana, set in Italy and starring Matilda De Angelis, is the next installment in the Citadel franchise.

After premiering in April 2023, the first season of Citadel quickly rose to the position of second most-watched non-US original series on Prime Video and fourth most-watched overall, per the streaming service.

Citadel: Honey Bunny marks Varun and Samantha's first on-screen collaboration, with both actors delivering powerful performances and daring stunts.

Prime Video has not yet set the premiere date.
