A source close to the makers of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu had revealed the box office collection of the film after its second day of release. Now, it has announced the worldwide gross of the gangster drama after its four-day weekend run.
The Gautham Menon directorial, which was released on September 15, has grossed ₹50.56 crores from across the world after its theatrical run till Sunday. The team behind the movie's Karnataka theatrical rights had informed the other day that the film is entering into the profit zone. The project's Telugu version, titled The Life of Muthu, hit the screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on September 17 after facing a few hiccups.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has opened to decent reviews from critics and the audience, and fans of Silambarasan are eager to know how much the film would collect in its final run. Going by the current trend, the chances of the movie surpassing Maanaadu, the star's highest grosser, looks unlikely.
The Venkat Prabhu directorial, which was based on time-loop, had opened to unanimous positive reviews upon its release last year. With Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan and Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuvean releasing in 10 days' time, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu will be able to utilize only one weekend.
All eyes are on the film's performance in the week days, starting from today. Silambarasan's performance has been garnering unanimous response from several quarters. AR Rahman's background score and action choreography by Lee Whittaker and Yaanick Ben are other highlights of the movie.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is Silambarasan's second film this year; the actor was seen in an extended cameo in Maha which was released a few months ago. His next outing, Pathu Thala, is expected to hit the screens in December.
