Telugu star Venkatesh delivered the biggest hit of his career with Sankranthiki Vasthunna, which grossed just over ₹300 crore at the box office. We at OTTplay were the first to reveal that Venkatesh has signed a new film with star director Trivikram Srinivas.

Venkatesh's new film launched in Hyderabad

Trivikram has penned dialogues for several of Venkatesh’s films in the past but never got the chance to direct the star hero until now. As we reported, this much-awaited combo has finally been locked, and today the film was launched with a small puja ceremony in Hyderabad. 

Chinnababu, who has produced several films with Trivikram in the past, is bankrolling this project on a massive budget. The film is touted to be a fun family drama and will be completed in quick time.

A source close to the unit revealed to us that the shooting will begin in October 2025 and the makers are looking at a summer 2026 release. The makers have already locked the heroine and other key technicians, with official announcements expected about them soon. 

Venkatesh is known for his impeccable comedy timing, while Trivikram is celebrated for his emotional dialogues and gripping drama, making this collaboration highly anticipated. Trivikram, a master of family dramas, said in many of his interviews that he had wanted to work with Venkatesh for the past 10 years but never had the opportunity. Now that the project is happening, expectations are sky-high to see what this duo has in store.

Venkatesh to be a part of Chiranjeevi's next

On the other hand, Venkatesh was last seen in the web series Rana Naidu 2, where he played a mature role. But after Sankranthiki Vasthunna became a blockbuster, he has decided to focus on fun films in the near future. Apart from the Trivikram project, he has also signed Chiranjeevi’s next, directed by Anil Ravipudi, in which he plays a lighthearted role. This film is set to release in January 2026.
