A recent report, shared by journalist Vickey Lalwani on his Instagram, mentioned that Saira Banu has not been keeping well for the past few days. She was admitted to a hospital in October 2024 as she had a severe bout of pneumonia, and recently, she developed two clots in her calf. The veteran actress moves inside her home but with difficulty.
The veteran actress is a new joiner to the Instagram app. She often shares rare unseen pictures from her film sets and it also features her late husband and other legendary actors.
On February 14, Saira Banu shared a heartfelt Valentine's Day post for Dilip Kumar and it received a lot of love from fans.
A part of her long post read, "Valentine's Day holds the utmost importance for both Dilip Sahib and me. Sahib would often gift me hand-scribbled greeting cards and short notes. I still ponder that while he was the tragedy king and the epitome of romance on the big screen, he also understood the essence of love dearly and profoundly, bringing it to life for real with me at each step of our lives.”

Saira Banu made her acting debut with Junglee (1961). She has received numerous awards for the film. After this, Banu did popular films such as Bluff Master (1963), Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964), Jhuk Gaya Aasman (1968), Padosan (1968), Victoria No. 203 (1972), Hera Pheri (1976) and Bairaag (1976). Her final film before retirement was Faisla (1988).
For the unversed, she also worked as a producer for the Bhojpuri film Ab To Banja Sajanwa Hamaar.
Banu married actor Dilip Kumar in 1966. The couple did not have any children. Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7, 2021.
