Though acclaimed filmmaker Vetri Maaran has made movies without stars, including the yet to release Viduthalai, he has mostly been associated with Dhanush-starrers ever since his debut flick Polladhavan. The news of the National Award winning director teaming up with Suriya was received with much enthusiasm among Tamil film lovers.
The duo's ambitious project Vaadi Vaasal, produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, is one of the most awaited projects in Kollywood. Movie buffs hope that the raw and rustic drama would be a huge success both critically and commercially. A test shoot of the project was held in the Chennai outskirts a few months ago.
His Viduthalai, starring Soori, is in the final stage of shooting, and it is expected that the movie based on Jayamohan's novel Thunaivan will hit the screens later this year. Ilaiyaraaja's music and Vijay Sethupathi's extended cameo are some of the aspects that audiences are looking forward to in the movie.
The news of Vetri joining hands with Vijay has been doing the rounds for a long time. In a recent chat with Vikatan, the director opened up on when the project is likely to take off.
He said that it is getting delayed only because of his current commitments and that the movie will go on floors afterwards. Vetri said, "I have been told from Vijay's side that the project can be commenced whenever I finish my ongoing commitments. I'm trying to complete Viduthalai and then move on to Vaadi Vaasal, after which the collaboration with Vijay will happen."
He also expressed happiness to helm a project that stars a huge star like Vijay. Though he has worked with Dhanush in four acclaimed movies, his film with Vijay will be his most-hyped project because of the star's current market in the industry.
