With a lot of speculations going on about director Vetrimaaran's next project, and questions being raised on Vada Chennai 2, his film with Suriya and lot others, on Monday, the filmmaker took it upon himself to clarify and set things straight. Fans of Vada Chennai which stars Dhanush in the lead role, have been asking about the sequel ever since its release. Vetrimaaran has finally given the answer about when exactly he will start his project, and if it does indeed include Silambarasan in it.
Vetrimaaran confirmed that his next project will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and will have Simbu in the lead role, with Vaadivaasal put in the backburner for now. The director said that the meeting with Simbu was arranged by Thanu, and with everything falling into place, Vetrimaaran also addressed the speculations on the project being Vada Chennai 2. "This is not Vada Chennai 2, and whenever that happens, it will be Anbuvin Ezhuchi and will have Dhanush in it. But this is also set in the world of Vada Chennai, which means some characters and aspects of the world will be there. This will also be in the similar timeline.”
While there also have been speculations that Dhanush (the producer of Vada Chennai) has demanded money to issue NOC for Vetrimaaran’s film with Simbu, the filmmaker clarified that as well. Acknowledging that Dhanush is the rightful IP right owner and that there is nothing wrong morally or legally to ask money, Vetrimaaran revealed that he spoke with Dhanush about how his project depends on the actor with him being the legal copywrite owner. "He had said that he has no issues and that it is up to me. He did not ask any money for NOC."
Vetrimaaran said that he did not like people talking about him and Dhanush about the project, and said their relationship is strong and will remain unaffected. "He will never disrupt the creative flow I have. He always says to keep my headspace clear.”
In fact, Dhanush also encouraged Vetrimaaran to do a film with Simbu, with the latter also asking Vetrimaaran to do the film as per his wishes. "Both of them respect each other, and are ready to give me the space to me myself. People who know me understand that they cannot make me do without my wish.”
