For the last few days, social media was abuzz with the possibility of a multi-starrer project that is gearing up to shake south film industries. It was heard that Vetrimaaran will be at the helm of a movie featuring JR NTR and Dhanush in lead roles.

Film buffs from Tollywood and Kollywood expressed their excitement and were eager to wait for an official announcement on the same. The filmmaker is now gearing up for the release of Viduthalai, starring Soori in the lead. The movie has been slated for a theatrical release on March 31.

Amid speculations doing the rounds on the director making a sequel to Dhanush-starrer Vada Chennai, movie buffs were wondering about his enthusiasm in pulling off an ambitious film featuring two powerhouse actors from south. Dhanush is busy with Captain Miller while Jr NTR will next be seen in NTR 30 (tentative title).

However, it turns out that the news is untrue, which has now left fans of both the stars disappointed. A source close to the filmmaker has confirmed that reports on the project are "absolutely false" and requested people to avoid such speculations. It all began with a few news portals coming up with articles on the Tollywood actor teaming up with the National Award winning filmmaker.

For now, Vetri is busy with promotion plans for Viduthalai which stars Vijay Sethupathi, Gautham Menon and Bhavani Sre, too, in crucial roles. The second installment of the movie is expected to be released later this year. It is based on the novel Thunaivan penned by B Jeyamohan.

Ilaiyaraaja's music is expected to be one of the highlights of the project which has Soori playing lead for the first time in his career.
