Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga was released in theatres on December 2, 2023. The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri was a box-office blockbuster, earning more than 900 crore. The film dealt with a lot of controversy when it was released as a part of audiences and critics called out the film for the showcase of misogyny and toxic masculinity. Now, months after the release of the film, actress Vidya Balan shared her thoughts about the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.

Vidya Balan on success of Animal

Vidya Balan, who is currently gearing up for the release of her film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, reflected on Animal's success in an interview with Pinkvilla. Speaking about the success of the film, Vidya said that the makers of Animal were unapologetic and were not second-guessing what they made and hence it created the magic it did on the big screens. She was quoted as saying, "They were not apologetic, or second-guessing or what the audiences want. When they were telling the story, they said it unabashedly with an abundance and look at the way it worked. People have just connected to it."

The actress feels that telling a story with no regrets is what the current trend is. "So I really think its the guise of the time is just telling a story, being unapologetic, that's what it is," she said.

Speaking further about how poor execution cannot save great content, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actress said, "Conviction is the name of the game here. We are told content is king. But you can have great content told unconvincingly. Animal is a great example of that."

Animal tells the story of a son, who grows up idolizing his father and their relationship eventually turns toxic. The film, directed by Arjun Reddy fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga broke multiple records at the box office and was into controversies for a long time.

Meanwhile, Vidya Balan is all set to appear in the upcoming film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, also starring Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Rammurthy. The film will be released on April 19.
