Kollywood film buffs were shocked to know that Vijay Antony met with a major accident in Malaysia a month ago while shooting for his debut directorial project Pichaikkaran 2. After being hospitalized for a few days, he surprised everyone by taking to social media a week ago to inform everyone that he is recuperating.
Now, he has come up with another much-awaited update on his health. The musician-turned-actor has shared with excitement that he has recovered 90 percent and that the surgery he underwent has been successful. He also said that he is happier and enthusiastic than ever.
As if this isn't enough, Vijay added that he is resuming the works for Pichaikkaran 2 from today. According to him, the movie is slated for a theatrical release in April. The exact release date is expected to be announced later. The movie will be his release after a hiatus of around two years.
Kodiyil Oruvan, which was released in 2021, was his last outing. He currently has almost half-a-dozen projects in his kitty, including Kolai, Ratham and Agni Siragugal. It is likely that he will have multiple releases in 2023, if everything goes as per plans.
There are unconfirmed reports of Vijay playing dual roles in Pichaikkaran 2, but it looks like viewers have to wait until the film's release. A promo video of the movie was unveiled a few months ago, which however, didn't reveal much about its plot.
Baaram fame Priya Krishnaswamy was initially supposed to helm the project, but Vijay replaced her owing to reasons best known to them. The movie will be released in Telugu under the title Bichagadu 2.
