It was known that musician-actor Vijay Antony and director CS Amudhan are teaming up for a crime thriller. The untitled project is the director's fourth film after Tamizh Padam, Rendavathu Padam and Tamizh Padam 2 (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). Though his debut film released in 2010 and previous outing hit the screens in 2018, his sophomore movie is yet to see the light of the day.
He has now taken to Twitter to announce that his new film has commenced its shooting along with a video from the location which has the crew members seen busy with their respective works.
He also posted the picture of a clapperboard before the first shot was canned. Vijay Antony, too, took to his social media account to post a picture from the location which feature him, Amudhan and others. He tweeted, "1st day shoot @csamudhan வேற level- ல direct பன்றாரு (sic)."
The actor's last outing was Kodiyil Oruvan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), which was the first successful Tamil film after theatres re-opened in Tamil Nadu post the second lockdown. He currently has Thamezharasan, Agni Siragugal, Khaki, Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan, Kolai and Pichaikkaran 2, which marks his directorial debut.
Interestingly, both Amudhan and Vijay were college mates. The duo has been having discussions on working together for a project for quite sometime. Though they had announced a comedy flick a decade ago, it didn't materialize due to some reasons.
The story of their current project revolves around a murder. Gopi Amarnath, Kannan and Suresh handle the movie's cinematography, music direction and editing respectively. Dhilip Subbarayan has roped in to choreograph the action sequences.
