Lokesh Kanagaraj became the most sought-after filmmaker in south India after his film Vikram with Kamal Haasan went on to become a huge hit at the box office. The movie, which was released on June 3, smashed several box office records in Tamil cinema and emerged as the highest grossing movie in Tamil Nadu.
Later, it was said that the director will team up with Vijay next for the second time after Master. The hype for the movie, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, escalated like never before in the history of Kollywood despite makers not coming up with an official announcement.
Lokesh was asked about the project wherever he went, and the filmmaker succeeded in not revealing details about the film. However, fans of Vijay got to know that it is a gangster flick set against Mumbai backdrop, which elevated the hype further.
But the filmmaker made an unexpected move a couple of months ago. He took to Twitter to inform that he is taking a break from social media and that he will back with an announcement when he is ready. Though this left movie buffs slightly dejected, they were ready to wait for Lokesh to return to social media.
In the meantime, there was news of Lokesh and team scouting locations in Mumbai. There have been speculations doing the rounds about the film becoming a part of the "universe" he had created in Vikram. Today, he liked an announcement tweet of Bigg Boss Tamil 6, featuring Kamal Haasan as its host.
This has sent fans into a tizzy, as they couldn't stop celebrating the unofficial return of the director on social media. However, his "like" has left many puzzled. A few say that he might make a surprise visit to the first episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 6 to reveal the much-awaited update on Thalapathy 67. Well, Vijay fans are keeping their fingers crossed now.
