Mollywood film Mukundan Unni Associates, which was released a few months ago in theatres, opened to rave reviews from critics and the audience, thanks to the portrayal of a unique protagonist, innovative presentation and wacky screenplay. However, a few had expressed their disliking over glorifying its hero who has grey shades.

Post its digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar in January, netizens were divided on the depiction of the protagonist in the movie and director Abhinav Sunder Nayak was criticized for insensitively handling the lead character played by Vineeth Sreenivasan.

The movie hit the headlines again when Edavela Babu, actor and general secretary of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, lashed out heavily on the movie for setting a bad example. However, many movie buffs came out in support of the film's director and questioned Babu's rights in interfering in a filmmaker's creative freedom.

Now, lensman-turned-filmmaker Vijay Milton has come down on the film. He has taken to his Twitter page to express disappointment over Vineeth's choice for being part of such a project. Vijay tagged him in his tweet and said that he is one among many fans of Vineeth in Tamil Nadu and that he holds high regard for his works.

His tweet read, "sir,v hav very high regards for ur works.U hav huge fan folowing in TN & am one among them.Watched #MukundanUnniAssociates recently. Like to know wat made u to opt this subject? Tried to decode on which point u decided to present this movie to this society? Clueless (sic)."

Director Abhinav reacted to the tweet pointing out that Vineeth isn't on Twitter and that the account Vijay has tagged is a fake one. However, he has assured that the message will be conveyed to the Thankam actor. A few have expressed Vijay for his conservative take on the film in the comment section.
