Vikram Prabhu on saying yes to Ghaati: I didn’t want to miss acting with Anushka Shetty again

Anushka Shetty's Ghaati is all set to hit the screens on September 5, 2025, and there is decent buzz around the film. The action drama is quite special as it marks the Telugu debut of Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu, who stars opposite Anushka Shetty in this film.

Vikram Prabhu reveals how he missed acting with Anushka Shetty

Speaking about his entry into Telugu cinema, Vikram says he was pleasantly surprised when Krish approached him. "The first question I asked Krish was, Why me? Then, he came up with a very interesting explanation, which you will understand only when you watch the film on the big screen. He introduced me to the detailed world of Ghaati, which attracted me instantly," says Vikram.

The seasoned actor further added that another reason for signing the film was Anushka Shetty. "I was supposed to act opposite her earlier, but it did not materialize as someone else bagged the role at the last minute. This time, I did not want to miss the opportunity and said yes immediately," he explains.

Not many know that Vikram Prabhu was once offered the Telugu film Rudramadevi. "Going back in time, I was first offered the role of Gona Ganna Reddy in Rudramadevi, but I could not do it. Later, Allu Arjun came on board and did a superb job. The film also had Anushka as the main lead. So, with Krish directing and Anushka leading, I accepted Ghaati without hesitation," says Vikram.

In the film, Vikram plays a gritty role as a gang member involved in ganja smuggling. "Krish has crafted a raw action entertainer filled with thrills. My role is crucial to the story and strongly supports Anushka’s character. The mix of action, drama, and twists will surely keep the audience engaged," he adds.

Ghaati has already been postponed twice but is finally set for a grand release. With Anushka opting out of promotions, Vikram has stepped up and is aggressively promoting the film. Stay tuned for more updates on this much-awaited project.
