Prime Video's Jubilee, a period drama series by Vikramaditya Motwane, was well-received in 2023. Set in a made-up studio from bygone days, the show delves into the political climate of the film business and how the Partition affected it. Touted as one of the most well-made shows on OTT, people anticipated that there would be a second season, knowing more about the stories that were part of the golden era of Indian cinema. However, as per the latest reports, the OTT platform has decided not to renew the show, meaning that the first season's potential renewal might not happen.
A report in HT City revealed that even though Prime Video gave the go-ahead for Jubilee 2, they discovered after the first week of meetings that the actual cost would exceed their budget. The entire visual style of the series must be authentic to the period it takes place in. The creators intended to take things to the next level after the first season's success. Nevertheless, the expense is starting to make it unaffordable. The source reports that this has temporarily halted production for season two.
Meanwhile, post-release of Jubilee, during an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Motwane was asked if he had any concerns about accurately depicting an era in the series. The filmmaker exclusively told us that there is readily available general research that may be used for everything, including costumes, rooms, art decor, and colour schemes; this resembles the typical research process. After that, he double-checked that he hadn't made any mistakes. That's the moment when one may let their imagination go wild and come up with their own unique vocabulary.
Motwane went on to share that it's also about creating their own vibe, whether that's through the colours they use, the outfits they wear, or the way they furnish a place.
Ram Kapoor, Wamiqa Gabbi, Siddhant Gupta, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, and Prosenjit Chatterjee were among the series' stars.
