If Tamil cinema has one film that is long pending to hit the big screens, then it is Dhruva Natchathiram starring Vikram in the lead role. The film is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, and is yet to see the daylight, facing many delays and postponements.
Recently, a fan-made poster of the film was doing rounds on social media for the occasion of New Year, seemingly giving away the potential release date of the film. However, neither Gautham Menon, nor the producers of Dhruva Natchathiram have commented anything about the release. An official release date for the Vikram-starrer is yet to be announced.

Vikram teamed up with filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon for the high-octane spy action thriller film titled Dhruva Natchathiram. While the collaboration piqued interest and excitement at the time of the announcement, the film faced massive delays and is yet to see daylight.
However, for the occasion of New Year, with many film announcements and updates taking place, a particular fan-made poster of the film prompted that 2025 is the year Dhruva Natchathiram will arrive. However, the poster was soon debunked to be a fan-made one, with none of the parties connected with the project sharing the poster.
Dhruva Natchathiram also stars Ritu Varma, R Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran and Vinayakan, among others. The spy action thriller is backed by the director himself, and has music by Harris Jayaraj. It has been facing delays ever since 2017. The last official release date for the film was in November 2023, and ever since the postponement, a new release date is yet to be announced.
Gautham Menon and Vikram’s upcoming projects
Both Gautham Menon and Vikram are expecting individual releases in January 2025. While Vikram’s Tamil film Veera Dheera Sooran is looking to release by the end of January, it is directed by SU Arun Kumar. It also stars Dushara Vijayan, SJ Suryah and others.
Meanwhile, Gautham Menon is gearing up for his Malayalam directorial feature titled Dominic and The Ladies Purse, starring Mammootty in the lead role. The film will open in theatres on January 23.
