Vikrant Massey has successfully completed 10 years in Bollywood. He made his debut in Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Lootera’ in 2013 and since then, there has been no turning back in his career. This year, the 36-year-old actor featured in the biographical film ‘12th Fail’ (2023), which emerged as a super hit at the box office. Despite his stable progression in the film industry, the actor feels that he is replaceable by his other contemporaries. Here is why.
Vikrant Massey feels he is replaceable in Bollywood
During an interview with ANI recently, Vikrant Massey expressed why he feels he can be replaced easily despite working on dozens of theatrical films. He said, “This is a very challenging industry. Cricket, Politics, and Bollywood – I think these are the three most popular professions in our country. There is also a misconception of having it easier here, but I don't think that is actually the case. I think it is a very democratic, robust, and progressive community, but it is not a family."
"It is a competitive industry. You might not be wishing ill for a person, but you will not wish the best for the other person because you want to take the other person's place. There are thousands of actors who want to take my part. Do they really wish well for me? Or am I irreplaceable? No. If I break my leg, someone else will come and take my place and start shooting in the next 4 days, and that is how competitive it is," he added.
12th Fail and its success
12th Fail, a biographical drama film, is the brainchild of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who serves as the producer, writer, and director. Inspired by Anurag Pathak's 2019 non-fiction book of the same name, the movie delves into the true-life narrative of Manoj Kumar Sharma. Sharma, rising from dire poverty, went on to achieve the esteemed position of an Indian Police Service officer. The film features Vikrant Massey in the lead role, supported by a cast including Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
Hitting theaters on October 27, 2023, 12th Fail not only garnered critical acclaim but also proved to be a commercial success. With a budget of ₹20 crore, the film surpassed expectations, grossing over ₹64 crore worldwide.
