Vikrant Rona locked and loaded,” said director Anup Bhandari emphatically in his recent tweet as the film inches closer to the D-Day. The promotions are currently in full swing with the biggest of superstars and the nationwide crowd part of the hysteria: from Salman Khan to Real Star Upendra, the pre-release activity has been quite the star-studded affair. At the same time, the advance bookings on the internet too have gained consistent traction with the makers adding several new shows in both 2D and 3D: the opening day advance booking trade reports have been tremendously encouraging so far.

As per Sacnilk.com, Vikrant Rona’s advance ticket sales are currently nearing the Rs. 5 Crore mark across all languages. As of 9:45 pm, July 26, the pre-release sales are dominated by the Kannada and the original version with Rs. 3.30 crores and the 3D format contributing over Rs. 2.5 Cr and the 2D release inching towards the Rs. 1 Cr mark! Kiccha Sudeep, the film’s leading man and titular character, is a well-known face in the Hindi and Telugu states and the actor’s popularity can be expected to translate to credible box office figures in these regions. The same trade report reveals that the advance bookings for the Hindi release of Vikrant Rona are at Rs. 37 Lakhs and Rs. 33 Lakhs for the Telugu dubbed version. Again, the 3D format has proven to be the main lure for the audiences.

The Tamil dubbed release has contributed over Rs. 11 lakhs so far in terms of advance ticket sales and the figures for the Malayalam version are yet to be divulged.

As far as the Kannada release is concerned, trade reports reveal that Bengaluru is the prime contributor for both the 2D and 3D versions. The city of Mysuru, however, is expected to achieve the houseful status before any other major city or town in Karnataka with the 3D version of Vikrant Rona placed at almost 90%, as of the night of July 26 (2D version at 49% occupancy in Mysuru).

Shivamogga, Kundapura, Tumakuru, etc. too have revealed high advance occupancy for the 3D version but this could be attributed to limited screenings for the format.

The figures, of course, will improve as the release day nears and the hype surrounding the film intensifies. The Day #1 nett projections too look highly promising for the Anup Bhandari directorial which are currently suggesting an Rs. 30 Crore opening day.

More reports to follow soon.
