Vinnod Prabhakar’s Maadeva OTT release postponed; new date set
Maadeva, directed by Naveen Reddy, was meant to be on OTT on September 12, but was then postponed by the streamer.

Kannada actor Vinnod Prabhakar’s first release of the year, Maadeva, had been rumoured to be OTT bound since early August, but it didn’t. A leading streamer was said to have finalized a deal, but that did not materialize. The team, then, gave the streaming rights to Cinebazzar OTT, and set September 12 as the release date. However, with multiple big-ticket OTT releases across platforms on September 11 and 12, it was then decided to forego that date and fix another.

A spokesperson from Cinebazzar OTT tells OTTplay that Maadeva has been postponed by a week only and will be available to stream on September 19. However, there is a catch - for the first week, the film will be available on TVOD (transactional video on demand) only at rs 49, with free access to subscribers from September 26. The film also stars Vinnod’s Roberrt co-star Sonal Monteiro as the leading lady, apart from Srinagara Kitty as the antagonist, Shruti Krishna, Achyuth Kumar and Malashri, among others.
Vinnod, who was earlier known for template films with, say, 4-5 fights and a few songs too, had said in promotional interviews that he jumped at the opportunity when Maadeva was offered to him. The actor says that he was not the first choice and that the makers had, apparently, tried getting other heroes on board. However, the lack of heroism on the part of the protagonist, who was written as a man of few words, did not appeal to most.
When the film eventually came out, Vinnod’s performance received praise, and was hailed as his career best yet, a step in the right direction for the actor. The actor’s hope is that based on the feedback he received for Maadeva, there will be a marked change in the kind of roles written for him.
