Rajinikanth's Annaatthe and Vishal-Arya's Enemy were the two Tamil movies which had theatrical releases on Deepavali last year. Though Silambarasan-starrer Maanaadu and Arun Vijay's Vaa Deal were also expected to join the list, they couldn't make it because of reasons best known to them.
Though Annaatthe had its OTT premiere on Netflix after three weeks of its theatrical release, there was no news regarding Enemy's digital premiere. The movie directed by Anand Shankar had opened to mixed reviews from critics and the audience. Looks like the much-awaited update is here.
According to sources, the film's digital rights have been bagged by SonyLIV. The digital platform is expected to make an official announcement on the same along with its release date. Sources say that the movie is likely to start streaming from February. Quite surprisingly, Vishal's previous outing, Chakra, which released earlier last year, is yet to have its OTT premiere.
Enemy had high expectations surrounding it since the time the project went on floors, thanks to the second collaboration of Vishal and Arya after Bala's Avan Ivan. The news of the actors playing protagonist and antagonist respectively in it escalated the hype even further.
Though the movie's background score by Sam CS and a couple of songs composed by Thaman received appreciation, along with its making, the screenplay and character development faced criticism from movie lovers. Mirnalini Ravi plays the female lead in the movie, the story of which is set against Singapore.
Prakash Raj, Mamta Mohandas, Thambi Ramaiah, Marimuthu, John VIjay, Karunakaran and Malavika Avinash essayed crucial characters in the film which has cinematography and editing by R D Rajasekhar and Raymond Derrick Crasta respectively. Produced by S Vinod Kumar under Mini Studios, Enemy has action scenes choreographed by Ravi Verma.
