Vishal Bhardwaj and Shah Rukh Khan have been awaiting their collaboration for a long time.
During the Khufiya release, Vishal Bhardwaj spoke at length about his wish to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan. Fans eagerly anticipate this collaboration, hoping for a match made in heaven on the big screen. Vishal revealed in an interview with Mid Day that he had planned to adapt 2 States and cast Shah Rukh as the lead. However, it didn't happen.
Missed opportunity with 2 States adaptation
The filmmaker said in the interview, "We had differences over the setting of it. I wanted to set it up not in a college but in a bank. SRK wanted it to be somewhere else, if not college." He further shared that they had pain in their minds.
Vishal further spoke about their wish to work together, stating, "I spoke to him after Jawan. Every year, whenever we meet at his birthday or any public function somewhere, he always says, and I also feel, that we have to do a film together."
Moreover, the filmmaker revealed that he has something for SRK.
Appreciation for Shah Rukh Khan's work in Jawan
Earlier, during an interview with News18, Vishal also shared that they always seem to know exactly when it will happen whenever they meet. Internally, he is also sensing something. Shah Rukh has informed him that he believes they can accomplish something this time around as well.
While praising SRK's role in Jawan, the filmmaker said at the India Today Conclave, "What Shah Rukh did in Jawan, no one could have done. It was such a beautiful film. They showed perfectly what they wanted to show. He is my hero in Jawan."
Meanwhile, Vishal's two directed projects made it to OTT this year: the web series Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley on SonyLIV and the film Khufiya on Netflix.
Talking about SRK, the superstar is gearing up for the release of Dunki on December 21, 2023.
