Vismaya Mohanlal’s film debut sparks frenzy online, some question ‘Why force uninterested kids to industry’

Vismaya Mohanlal is set to debut in the Malayalam film industry! This was the big update from Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on July 1 after Aashirvad Cinemas teased that an announcement was on the way. And as expected, it did send the internet into a frenzy with best wishes pouring in and speculations about Mohanlal’s cameo, while some also questioned the move of yet another ‘nepokid’ entering the block.

Mohanlal’s daughter to debut in films

Iconic Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya will be making her film debut with a movie, which will be directed by Jude Anthany Joseph. The film, which has been titled Thudakkam (The Beginning), will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under his Aashirvad Cinemas banner.

The announcement took many netizens by surprise, who fervently debated the topic. One section of fans is happy to see yet another face from Mohanlal’s family making their silver screen debut after the Lucifer star’ son Pranav Mohanlal.  

But it is often pointed out that Mohanlal’s son Pranav is more of a travel enthusiast, and has been a part of a handful of movies and hardly ever gives any promotional interviews. Vismaya too has stayed away from the limelight and has also published a book, Grains of Stardust. Even while confessing to be a Lalettan fan, one netizen made a fervent plea to the legendary actor, saying “Please don’t ruin it by forcing your uninterested kids to the film industry. You will never be forgotten We don’t need people that are pressured into cinema,” the comment on Twitter read.

Reddit forums also discussed Vismaya’s film debut, with one person commenting, “ I remember Lalettan saying in some old interview that Vismaya was not interested in acting or cinema. Bit strange to see her debut all of a sudden and that too with a big name director.”

Another person also commented on whether the disinterested star’s kids are being forced to act?

Thudakkam director Jude Anthany Joseph is known for films such as 2018, and has also acted in movies.

Thudarum to Thudakkam

Ever since Mohanlal’s last film Thudarum became a blockbuster hit, people have taken a particular liking to the word online. Thudarum means ‘To Continue’ and Mohanlal Thudarum has been the go-to word for most fans.

The meaning of Vismaya’s film title, Thudakkam (The Beginning), was also not lost on the netizens and quickly drew comparisons.
