It's the season of re-releases and three films are gearing up to hit screens today once again after a long hiatus. The list includes Ajith's blockbuster Viswasam and Dhanush's psychological thriller 3 and the crime drama Vada Chennai. Here's a quick look at the three films.

Viswasam
This action drama helmed by Siruthai Siva, stars Ajith and Nayanthara in the lead. Ajith plays Thookkudurai, a businessman from a remote village in Theni. He later tries to sort out the rough patch in his marriage with Niranjana (Nayanthara) and also saves their daughter.

The film, which had an ensemble cast of Ajith, Nayanthara, Anikha Surendran, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, hit screens in 2019, along with Rajinikanth's Petta and emerged as a blockbuster. The song Kannaana Kanne, sung by Sid Sriram and composed by D Imman continues to be one of the most listened to songs.

The romantic psychological thriller written and directed by Aishwarya R Dhanush, had Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead. The film followed the life of childhood sweethearts Ram (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruti), who go on to get married byt their lives take a unique turn after Ram commits suicide. The film marked the debut of Aishwarya's cousin Anirudh Ravichander as a music director and the song 'Why This Kolaveri Di?' went on to become an overnight sensation.

Vada Chennai
This crime drama, written and directed by Vetri Maaran, marks his fourth project. Dhanush plays Anbu, a skilled carrom player, who involuntarily gets involved in a gang war and is sent to prison. The film delves into the power dynamics, corruption, and the struggles faced by the marginalised communities in the underbelly of the city. The film was bankrolled by Wunderbar Films, Lyca Productions and Grass Root Film Company. A sequel to the film is said to be in the offing.
