Hrithik Roshan is an actor who seems to be ageing like fine wine. Recently, the actor dominated headlines for his portrayal of an air force pilot in Siddharth Anand's aerial actioner Fighter, and now it appears that he is set to return to his agent avatar as Kabir. Yash Raj Films has decided to create its own multiverse of spy dramas, and one of the most beloved films in this franchise is Hrithik Roshan's War. Since its release in 2019, fans have eagerly awaited the sequel, and now it seems we have an answer.

War 2 Update

If reports are to be believed, rumours suggest that Hrithik will begin shooting for War 2 next week. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the sequel is expected to show a different side of Hrithik. According to sources from Pinkvilla, “Hrithik Roshan is all set to start shooting for War 2 by February 23. He kicks off the journey on War 2 with an action-packed introductory sequence, designed by Ayan Mukerji, Aditya Chopra, and the entire action team of the film. Hrithik will be shooting for his introductory action sequence for two weeks, and the makers are confident in taking the audience on a thrilling ride from the first frame of the film."

The reports also claim that the Greek god has been training for the spy thriller for the last two weeks, during which he sustained a minor lower back injury. However, Hrithik has returned to the set like a true fighter. Sources state, "Ayan Mukerji and Aditya Chopra have meticulously worked on the script of War 2 to differentiate it from all that has been done in the YRF Spy Universe till date. War 2 will be an action spectacle like never before, and as suggested by the post-credit sequence of Kabir, this one would be a little darker and grittier."

About War 2

War 2, the sixth film in YRF's spy universe, is aiming for a 2025 Independence Day release, with the exact date kept under wraps. Another exciting aspect of this film that is driving fans crazy is that it marks the Bollywood debut of superstar NTR JR. Although not much has been revealed about his character, it will be great to see him and Hrithik sharing the screen.

For those unaware, before War 2, five films have been released in the spy universe, with some starring the two Khans of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The films in YRF’s spy universe include Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), and Tiger 3 (2023).
