Paresh Rawal Talks About The Scrapped Version Of Hera Pheri 3

For the first time in the history of his filmmaking career, Priyadarshan has decided to make a sequel to his own classic comedy, Hera Pheri. But it was not always Priyadarshan who was in talks to direct the third part of his cult classic. Earlier, Farhad Samji was supposed to direct the film, and during that time, the talks were that Kartik Aaryan would replace Akshay Kumar. This news came after Paresh Rawal confirmed Kartik being a part of the franchise. Now, to clarify his statement, Paresh Rawal has revealed what he meant back then and how people perceived it.
Was Kartik Aaryan never supposed to replace Akshay Kumar?
Paresh Rawal, in a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, shared that though Kartik was supposed to be a part of the film, it was never the case that he would replace Akshay Kumar.
He said, "Vo kahani alag thi tabhi, isko Raju samajh kar pakad kar laaye the, ye alag hi kirdar tha. Kahani ye thi, mere ko jitna pata hai, poori kahani to maine nahin suni thi." (That was a different story then, and he was brought for the role of Raju, but it was a different character. This was the story as much as I know. I hadn’t listened to the entire script.)
With this, Paresh Rawal confirmed that with Farhad being the director earlier, Kartik got on board for a fresh character, and indeed, Akshay Kumar was supposed to join them as Raju.
What has changed with Priyadarshan directing Hera Pheri 3?
He further shared that it was a different story, and with Priyadarshan coming on board now, they have worked on the script, and things have changed. Paresh Rawal said, "Kahani alag ho gayi, abhi Priyadarshan aa rahe hain." (It’s a different story now, and Priyadarshan has joined.)
It was back in 2022 when a fan took to X to question Paresh Rawal about Kartik's involvement in Hera Pheri 3. A fan questioned, "Paresh Rawal sir, is it true that Kartik Aaryan is doing Hera Pheri 3?" To this, the veteran actor replied, "Yes, it's true."

It was on Priyadarshan's birthday when Akshay Kumar penned a heartfelt wish for him. In response, the ace director replied, “Thank you so much for your wishes, Akshay. In return, I would like to give you a gift—I’m willing to do Hera Pheri 3. Are you ready? @akshaykumar, @SunielVShetty, and @SirPareshRawal?”
Later, Akshay reacted to the message, saying, "Sir!! Your birthday, and I got the best gift of my life. Chalo, karte hain phir thodi hera pheri. @pareshrawalofficial @suniel.shetty @priyadarshan.official."
