Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious mythological movie Ramayana: Part 1 is set to release on Diwali 2026, and Ranbir Kapoor has wrapped up filming for it. Videos from the set of the film emerged online on Monday night, showing the actor celebrating the wrap with the cast and crew. On the Tuesday morning, he left Mumbai accompanied by his wife Alia Bhatt and mother Neetu Kapoor.
An emotional Ranbir embraces Ravi Dubey, who portrays Lakshman in the film, in a set video footage that was shared. Along with the rest of the team, the two of them cut a celebratory cake. The videos that are making the rounds on social media show Ranbir and Tiwari giving emotional addresses to the crew, but the audio is mostly inaudible.
The wrap coincides with a significant promotional event for the film: on Thursday, July 3, the first official look at Ramayana will be unveiled on the IMAX screen in Mumbai. “Landmark cinematic event that sets the stage for one of the biggest films ever made” is the official invitation's description of the sneak peek.

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, who co-produces the film and plays the villain Ravana, are not expected to be present at the ceremony. Ranbir was spotted with his family leaving the city on Tuesday morning, while Yash is reportedly on a family holiday in the US.
Releasing in two parts, the second half of Ramayana is set for Diwali 2027 and produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios and directed by Tiwari. The film has Ranbir as Lord Rama opposite Sai Pallavi as Sita.
"Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Rama’s role," Ranbir had explained before when discussing his role, adding, "It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is about — family and husband-wife dynamics. I’m very excited about that."
He continued by saying, "And to tell this (story) to a new generation with the kind of technology that we have, it’s a very exciting and gratifying opportunity for me as an actor."
Kunal Kapoor as Indra, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Arun Govil as Dashratha round out the ensemble cast.
