Award-winning director Ajitpal Singh's Hindi feature film, "Fire in the Mountains," is now available to stream on an OTT platform. Making its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, the 82-minute family drama has been written and directed by Ajitpal Singh and can now be streamed on Sony LIV.

Produced by Ajay Rai and Alan McAlex, with Mauli Singh as co-producer, "Fire in the Mountains" tells the story of a determined mother's struggle to save money for a road that will allow her wheelchair-bound son to receive crucial physiotherapy in their remote Himalayan village.

However, her husband dismisses her efforts and steals her hard-earned savings, believing that a shamanic ritual known as Jagar will heal their son.

Excited about its release on Sony LIV, the self-taught filmmaker Ajitpal said, "Fire in the Mountains intimately delves into societal issues against the backdrop of the Himalayas. I am thrilled that the film is now available for streaming on Sony LIV. After travelling across the globe, showcasing at film festivals, securing 13 awards, and enjoying theatrical releases in North America, the film finally returns home. I am filled with childlike excitement, eagerly anticipating the response and reception from my fellow citizens."

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021, where it stood out as the only entry from South Asia among the 10 films selected for the 'World Cinema Dramatic Competition.'

Since its premiere, "Fire in the Mountains" has garnered significant attention, participating in over 30 renowned international film festivals and receiving 13 awards. These accolades include audience and critic awards for best film, best director, and best actor.

Previously titled "Swizerland," the film also earned two awards for Best Project at the 2019 Film Bazaar's Work-In-Progress Lab. Furthermore, it was selected for the NFDC Screenwriters Lab 2018-19 and featured in the Goes to Cannes section of Marche du Film 2020.

Following its success on the festival circuit, "Fire in the Mountains" was distributed by Kino Lorber and had a theatrical release across North America in May and June of 2022. It was even screened at the Film Forum. Garnering critical acclaim, the film received "Critics Pick" recognition from The New York Times and was included in their list of must-watch films for 2022.

The cast of "Fire in the Mountains" is led by Vinamrata Rai, Chandan Bisht, and Sonal Jha, alongside newcomers Harshita Tewari and Mayank Singh Jaira.

This international collaboration brought together artists from various countries, such as the French director of photography, Dominique Colin, known for his work with acclaimed filmmakers like Gaspar Noé and Cédric Klapisch. The film was edited by Simon Price from New Zealand, in collaboration with Parikshhit Jha, while the evocative music was composed by South Africa's Arnaud van Vliet.

Among the Indian crew members were production designer Mausam Agarwal, casting director Taran Bajaj, editor Parikshhit Jha, sound designer Mohandas VP, sound recordist Kanishk Bhoklay, and costume designer Karishma Vyas. Additional dialogues were penned by Sudarshan Juya.
