In the last couple of days, audiences everywhere have been going gaga about Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer, with special emphasis on the cameos in the film. The best, reckon audiences, is, without an iota of doubt, the 10-12 minute special appearance by Kannada star Shivarajkumar, who managed to dominate Rajinikanth in their scene together, something that was earlier thought to be an impossible feat.
Audiences from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, in particular, have fallen in love with namma Shivanna’s screen presence and social media has been flooded with posts and memes attesting to the same. The Century Star has a new legion of fans, a development that the director of his next has been keenly following.
Shivanna’s next is the much-awaited two-part action heist thriller Ghost, which was initially thought to be a Kannada, Tamil and Telugu release. Director MG Srinivas was looking at only those markets initially, as the Hattrick Hero has a decent following in the Telugu states, especially after the release of Vedha. Now that Tamil audiences have also showering him with praise, Srini can be rest assured of a decent outing for the film in that market as well.
Recognizing this new-found popularity of his leading man, Srini has acted fast in capitalizing on it. This morning, the filmmaker took to social media with a glimpse of the Big Daddy teaser from Ghost that was released on Shivanna’s birthday in July. This glimpse, has audio in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, all dubbed by the actor himself, with Srini’s accompanying post reading that the Big Daddy teaser was being bundled with Jailer in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
If you are wondering what is so special about the Big Daddy teaser, well, it introduces Shivanna, with great impact, as the ‘OG’ – Original Gangster – as he tells a group of commandos set to take him out that he’s scared more with only his eyes and proceeds to have ‘pani’ puri with a twist, dunking the snack in a glass of stiff whiskey. Now, imagine watching this on a big screen. Goosebump inducing, right!
