The day and date of 29 August 2008 will forever be etched in gold in the memories of everyone who is a fan of music and zara-hatke kind of films! Well, this was exactly the day when the Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal starrer ‘Rock On!’ had got released. The film, which was about friendship with music as a backdrop, definitely strummed many hearts with its endearing plot.

Arjun Rampal gets nostalgic about Rock On

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Arjun Rampal revealed how he loved the script the very moment he had read it. Arjun, who played the memorable role of musician Joe Mascarenhas, said that Farhan Akhtar had approached him with the script of Rock On! while they were in Jodhpur at a magazine launch. That time, Farhan had said that the film’s premise would be about a rock band and that he (Farhan) believed that he (Arjun) would be a perfect fit for one of the lead characters named Joe. Arjun added that, since Joe’s character resonated with him so much (he plays awesome guitar in real life), that he was totally blown away.

Abhishek Kapoor hugged Arjun Rampal

At the same time, Arjun Rampal also revealed that the film’s director Abhishek Kapoor, aka Gattu was a bit unsure about him playing Joe as he wanted a good-looking guy for the role. That’s when Arjun Rampal jokingly said that he wanted to break that guitar on his head. Despite the fact that Arjun Rampal gave an on-the-spot audition with a mustache and shorts, Gattu was still not convinced. But, when he went on the sets and did a scene, Gattu hugged him saying that he was his Joe!
