Inspired by real-life events, 2018 is an ode to those who survived one of the worst natural calamities in the country's history to strike Kerala. In the depths of flooded streets, people find courage, love and hope. Written and directed by Jude Antony Joseph, the movie stars Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narain, Lal, Indrans and Aju Varghese.

Fire in the Mountain:

This humble movie by debutant director Ajitpal Singh's had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and garnered a lot of love from critics around the world. The film follows the struggles of a mother who embarks on a mission to build a road in a serene Himalayan village. Her goal is to provide access to physiotherapy for her wheelchair-bound son. However, her husband holds a contrasting belief, considering a shamanic ritual known as "Jagar" as the ultimate remedy. In a shocking turn of events, he resorts to stealing her hard-earned savings, intensifying the emotional journey.

Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham:

In this compelling film , we witness the struggles of Basheeruddin, affectionately known as Bachu. Determined to remain in Kerala rather than seeking a supposedly better life in the Gulf, Bachu channels his ambitions through various entrepreneurial endeavours. However, Bachu's dreams are abruptly shattered when the devastating pandemic strikes. Helembed by Muhashin, the movie stars Basil Joseph, Indrans and Jaffar Idukki in the lead roles. 

Triangle of Sadness:

In Ruben Östlund's highly-anticipated satirical comedy, "Triangle of Sadness," audiences are in for a treat as the filmmaker continues his tradition of delivering thought-provoking social commentaries wrapped in biting humour. Through a series of absurd and comical events, Östlund skillfully dissects the opulent world of the super-rich, revealing their vulnerabilities, excesses, and underlying insecurities. 

Farhana:

In this gripping social thriller, Aishwarya Rajesh takes on the lead role. Written and directed by Nelson Venkatesan, the movie is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. The film delves into the life of a Muslim woman, who comes from a highly conservative family. Her world is turned upside down when she makes a critical error in judgement while working at a sex chat call centre, triggering a series of unforeseen consequences. It also stars Selvaraghavan, Aishwarya Dutta, Jithan Ramesh, and Anumol. It will become available on SonyLIV on July 16.  

The Fabelmans:

The Fabelmans presents an engrossing semi-autobiographical tale written and directed by Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg himself. This film takes audiences on a heartfelt coming-of-age journey, following the transformation of a young man who stumbles upon a profound and unsettling family secret. It premires on SonyLIV on July 16.
