Set to go on floors in November 2025, Ayushmann Khurrana will play the lead character of 'Prem' in Sooraj Barjatya's next directorial effort. According to the earlier report, the actor will be the main attraction in the director's next film, with Sharvari playing his leading lady.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, the project would reportedly offer a new spin on love and family, two of Barjatya's trademark themes. Starting in November 2025, Khurrana will star as the titular character of Sooraj Barjatya in the film, and he is really enthused about the role. In December, Sharvari will join him, according to the source.
The entertainment portal reported that filming is anticipated to take place over the course of six months, with an anticipated release scheduled for the latter part of 2026. The next film by Sooraj Barjatya is developing into a light-hearted love story that explores nuclear families. The insider said that with the script in lockdown, the maverick is moving forward with casting the ensemble. The casting process is already underway, and the film will once again feature veteran actors.
Barjatya will be directing his eighth feature film, the title of which is still up in the air. Notable films in his career include Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Vivah, among many others. Themes of love and family strife have characterised most of his work, although he veers away from them in his most recent film, Uunchai (2022).
Ayushmann Khurrana, who is juggling multiple projects currently, will start shooting the Barjatya feature as soon as he finishes shooting Thama, which is produced by Dinesh Vijan. Together with Posham Pa, he is a part of a YRF dark comedy, and he is also in an untitled espionage comedy produced by Karan Johar.
Sharvari, who co-stars with Khurrana, is also the star of Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt and is reportedly in negotiations for more high-profile projects.
This combination between Barjatya, who is getting back to his narrative origins, and Khurrana, who is entering the world of 'Prem', is making a strong case to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of 2026.
