Dimple Kapadia, who is often referred to as a powerhouse performer, has been in the news lately for the character she played in Disney+ Hotstar’s Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, a crime drama streaming television series directed by Homi Adajania. The acclaimed actress dazzles in the role of Rani Baa - a matriarch and head of a drug cartel in a remote village in Rajasthan. However, what’s going viral currently is an old video of Dimple, in which she called noted actor Nana Patekar - with whom she acted in films like Prahaar: The Final Attack, Angaar and Krantiveer - ‘obnoxious’.

Speaking in an old interview with NDTV, the actress - who turns 66 today - told Anupama Chopra that although he is known for his acting prowess, she is also well-versed with his ‘dark side’.

When asked about her reuniting with Nana on screen again, Dimple said, “I think he is obnoxious.” So, is he obnoxious in a good or a bad way? The actress initially hesitated responding to that, and then nodded saying, “Umm”.

Adding to that, the actress said, “In a good way, and a bad way. As far as his talent goes, there’s no match to him. He is an extremely talented man. When I see talent like him, sau khoon bhi maaf hai. Sab kuch maaf hai. Meri jaan bhi lelo. That’s the effect he has on me. But, as a person, with me, he has been very, very nice, kind, and a good friend. But I have also seen his terrible side… The dark side. We all have a dark side, which is nicely and safely kept aside (sic).”

On the work front, Dimple’s performances in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, Pathaan and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar have also been widely appreciated. In Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, she was seen alongside Radhika Madan, Isha Talwar, Angira Dhar, Deepak Dobriyal, Monica Dogra and Naseeruddin Shah.
