The untimely demise of South Korean singer Park Boram has sent shockwaves not only in her home country but also around the world as it draws on the mental health challenges faced by artists. The popular K-pop artist was found dead in a bathroom on April 11. Her agency, Xanadu Entertainment, expressed deep grief after her death and shared the heartbreaking news with the fans.
Park Bo-ram attended a private event and was drinking alcohol with her friends. She later went to the bathroom and people became suspicious when she didn’t return. Park Bo-ram was discovered unconscious and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, as per reports. The cause of her death is still being investigated.
Park Bo-ram was a contestant on the reality singing show SuperStar K2 in 2010. She might not have won the talent show but she was quite impressive and finished in eighth place. Years later, she appeared on King of Mask Singer, another singing reality competition show.
Park Bo-ram was a renowned name for playback singers as she lent her soulful and melodious voice to multiple K-dramas. She kicked off her soundtrack singer journey with Playful Kiss’ OST in 2010. Some of them include OST’s for W-Two Worlds, Reply 1988, Introverted Boss, Prison Playbook, and About Time.
The 30-year-old artist has contributed as a singer and model to various projects ever since her breakthrough debut in 2014. Some of her popular songs include Celepretty, Ordinary Love, Dynamic Love, Orange Moon, and Pretty Love, which showcase the versatility of Park Bo-ram. She took home the ‘Artist of the Year’ award for her debut song Beautiful and was also nominated for several other coveted music awards.
Park Bo-ram hit headlines when news broke about her dating life with popular K-drama actor Seo In-guk (Doom at Your Service, Death’s Game). The charismatic couple broke up in 2018 after dating for nearly 3 years, and their romantic breakup was shared by their respective agencies.
Park Bo-ram debuted in 2014 with her single, Beautiful, after singing for SBS’ 49 Days soundtrack. The solo debut also featured rapper Zico. This year, in August, it would’ve been her 10-year anniversary, and she was gearing up for the anticipated comeback before her tragic death.
