The year was 2000, when all the eyes were trained on the young lady named Priyanka Chopra as she was representing India in the globally prestigious Miss World pageant. Thanks to her supreme confidence, pleasing personality and her ability to handle utmost pressure, she not just won the hearts of the judges, but also the much-coveted Miss World crown! Even though she won the crown around 24 years ago, the winning moment still resonates even today.
In a recent interview with ‘Read The Room podcast with Cavanaugh James’, Priyanka Chopra recalled the memories of her winning the crown. She said that she remembered (the years) 1993 or 1994, Miss World and Miss Universe, Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen, were both from India that year. She also went on to add (read ‘reveal’) that, she had little snippets from the newspapers in a little collage in her room of Aishwarya and Sushmita! In the same breath, she ‘clarified’ that it was not like she wanted to be her.
She added, even though she was always curious about looking at these (aforementioned) young women doing so well on a global scale, she never wanted to go after that. That’s why, she said, when she was thrown into it, she really believed she was destiny's child in some way, and she really rode that and she did not fight it!
On the professional front, there have been strong rumours of late, stating that Priyanka Chopra is now all set to collaborate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a period action drama. Besides this, she will be seen alongside John Cena and Idris Elba in the most eagerly awaited ‘Heads of State’. Additionally, Priyanka Chopra Jonas will also be seen lending her voice for Disney Plus Hotstar’s film titled 'Tiger'. It really seems like this global superstar really has her plates full for this year!
