Now, it is rumored that Detective Kiriti Roy might be making a comeback. However, this time it won’t be Indraneil Sengupta. According to multiple reports, Vikram Chatterjee may play the character this time.
Kiriti’s character has been portrayed on the big screen before. However, previously, Indraneil portrayed the character. But since the past year, he’s been recognised as Feluda, so a new face is being sought for Kiriti. And now in search of this new Kiriti, an offer has been made to the actor.
Nihar Ranjan Gupta’s novel was first adapted on the big screen in 2016 with Kiri O Kalo Bhromor by Anindya Bikash Datta. Later, in 2018, Neelacholey Kiriti was made by the same director. It was a film by Camelia Productions. Amidst a minor hiatus, Camelia Production seems to be again in talks to bring Kiriti back on screen. This time, Vikram could take on the role of the new Kiriti. A phone call has already been made to him within the industry about this.
However, it’s not yet clear if Anindya Bikash will direct this Kiriti as well. But it’s known that the same production company is currently discussing three new films and two series. But all of these are still in their initial stages. However, according to sources, one of these five will be directed by Arindam Sil, who is known for his association with thrillers and detective characters. But whether he will direct the new Kiriti is still unknown. However, if all plans align, Vikram might be seen in two series by the production house. And these will be released on their upcoming OTT platform, Friday.
Vikram Chatterjee has been consistently working in one film after another recently. He was seen in Shohorer Ushnotomo Dine a few months ago. The film had a reasonable success at the box office. Subsequently, it's heard that he is collaborating with Swastika Mukherjee for a new thriller film, Durgapur Junction, by Arindam Bhattacharya. Apart from that, he has also worked in Shieladitya Moulik’s Ke Pratham Kache Asechi, which is currently under production. Meanwhile, his shooting for Pariah directed by Tathagata Mukherjee has concluded. He has also started shooting for Omarsongi.
