Ever since the shooting of Ajith's AK 61 (tentative title) commenced in Hyderabad, it was said that the makers are eyeing a Deepavali release. The heist thriller produced by Boney Kapoor is his third collaboration with Ajith and director H Vinoth.

Though the movie's official cast and crew list is yet to be announced, the news of Manju Warrier, Kavin and Veera coming on board to essay pivotal characters in the film left fans of Ajith elated. At the recent audio launch of Veetla Vishesham, another movie bankrolled by Boney, the veteran producer hinted at AK 61 arriving for Deepavali.

Makers of Karthi-starrer Sardar had announced recently that the cop thriller will also make it to the theatres for the festival. Movie buffs expressed excitement on having two much-awaited films hitting screens for Deepavali. The other day, there has been news doing the rounds that Jayam Ravi-starrer Iraivan, too, is likely to join the race.

A few hours earlier, team Prince, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, surprised everyone by announcing that they are also arriving for the big festival. The comic caper was supposed to be released on August 31. The sudden change in decision of the makers has left everyone wondering about the million dollar question, "When is AK 61 releasing".

Though many Ajith fans still hope that the movie will release on Deepavali, the announcement of a few other movies arriving during the festival have made them upset. They are wondering if this is a sign of the movie skipping the festival release and opting another date.

Vijay's Thalapathy 66 (tentative title) is expected to be a Pongal release. So there are little chances that AK 61 will also be accommodated by the exhibitors. Fans have their fingers crossed until an official update is made by the team.
