Writer release date: When and where to watch this hard-hitting drama which stars Samuthirakani

Samuthirakani's Writer was one of the critically acclaimed Tamil films which released last year. Debutant Franklin Joseph has directed the movie which hit the screens in December. The project had garnered the attention of movie buffs when its teaser and trailer were released.

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith is one of the producers of the film which has Ineya, Dileepan, Harikrishnan, GM Sundar, Lizzie Antony and Kavin Jay Babu among others played pivotal roles in it. The performances of Samuthirakani, Kavin and Ineya received appreciation from the critics, apart from its screenplay and realistic portrayal of events. 

What's Writer all about?

The movie touches upon the various malpractices and dangerous manipulations which happen in police stations in our country. Thangaraj, who works as a writer in the police department in Trichy, gets transferred to Chennai after his superior officer learns that the former is secretly setting up a police union. 

Little did Thangaraj know that his life would turn topsy-turvy after he takes up a seemingly trivial case in Chennai. The plot thickens when he realizes that he is unknowingly a part of a big conspiracy that destroys the life of an aspiring youngster.  

When and where to watch Writer online?

The movie will start premiering on Aha Tamil from February 11. This is the first movie to stream from Aha Tamil, the new digital platform for Kollywood movies and series. Pa Ranjith had made the announcement on the project's OTT release recently along with a new trailer. 

Pradheep Kaliraja has cranked the camera for the movie which has editing by Manigandan Sivakumar. 96 fame Govind Vasantha has composed music for Writer while A Raja has helmed its art direction. Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh and Aditi Anand has produced the movie along with Ranjith.
