Arun Vijay's first theatrical release in the pandemic era, Yaanai, which hit the screens in July, dropped on Zee5 on August 19. The digital platform had recently announced that the action thriller directed by Hari has garnered 100M views. The OTT avenue has been promoting the film aggressively by unveiling short clips from it.

A series of short video clips featuring an interaction with Arun have also been released by them at regular intervals for the last few days. The actor speaks in detail about his character in the film and working with Hari for the first time in his career.

According to him, the one thing he likes about Hari as a director is the manner in which he connects his protagonists to viewers. He picks Tamizh, Singam and Saamy to be his favourite movies of the filmmaker.

"I love the script of Tamizh as a whole. Singam is a wonderful movie and I felt it would be good if I get to play a similar character after watching it. Saamy is another project of his which I love immensely. The first part in the two-installment franchise was beautifully shot. I generally love all the protagonists in his movies."

Arun, who has had two direct-to-OTT releases also spoke about his take on the much-debated theatres vs OTT topic. He said that both the avenues can go hand-in-hand although he prefers OTT release after its screening in theatres.

"I have always been doing films for the large screen experience; Yaanai was no different. Going forward, both theatre and OTT platforms will co-exist," he noted. Oh My Dog (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Tamil Rockerz (streaming on SonyLIV) were the two projects of his which had OTT releases this year.
