Yaanai, which marked the first collaboration between filmmaker Hari and Arun Vijay, released in theatres on July 1 after getting postponed twice. The film, which follows the regular template of the director, opened to above average reviews from critics and performed decently at the box office.

The rural action drama was dropped on Zee5 on August 19. The digital platform has now informed that the movie has clocked 100 million views ever since its OTT premiere. Yaanai was Arun Vijay's first theatrical release in the pandemic era. His first outing this year, Oh My Dog, had a direct-OTT-release.

The actor's screen presence and a few action sequences are considered to be highlights of Yaanai which has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Radhika Sarathkumar, Ammu Abhirami, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Ramachandra Raju and Gangai Amaren play important characters in the film which has action choreography by Anl Arasu.

Yaanai marked Hari's return to direction after a four-year hiatus. The much-expected Saamy 2, starring Vikram in the lead, which turned out to be a dud at the box office, was his previous outing. S Gopinath and Anthony have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the project. Vedikkaranpatti S Sakthivel has produced the film under the banner of Drumsticks Productions.

Arun Vijay has had three releases this year and all of them have been dropped on different OTT platforms. While his Oh My Dog, which was actually meant for a theatrical release, dropped on Amazon Prime Video, his latest release Tamil Rockerz, started streaming on SonyLIV a few days ago.

Interestingly, both Tamil Rockerz and Yaanai had their OTT premieres on the same day. Arun is now gearing up for the theatrical release of Sinam which is set to arrive on September 16.
